The Carris Museum (Museu da Carris in Portuguese) is a cultural center presenting the past, the present and the future of public transport of the city of Lisbon to the public where various cultural and company events are also held. It is situated near the riverside in Alcântara (Lisbon), in an important cultural corner of Lisbon which integrates the Museum of the Orient, the National Palace, the National Coach Museum, the Presidency of the Republic Museum, the Jeronimos Monastery, and the Belem Cultural Centre. The museum is located in the Santo Amaro Depot which still houses all Lisbon’s trams today.〔(Instituto dos Museus e da Conservação )〕 Inaugurated on 12 January 1999 and being part of the Portuguese Museum Network since 2010, the museum is an integral part of the heritage of the Carris company structure. ==Architecture== The museum is divided into three sections, two of which are situated in previous, now inactive workshops.
